19-Year-Old Arrested for Temple Donation Box Theft

The Kandivali Police have arrested a 19-year-old youth, identified as Arman Shaikh, for breaking into a temple donation box in Kandivali West and stealing cash amounting to Rs 60,000. The arrest led to the resolution of two additional theft cases: one at a wine shop in Andheri and another at a temple in Borivali.

Incident Details

The theft occurred at a Ganesh temple in Kandivali during the night of May 13-14. Temple authorities discovered the donation box smashed and the money missing, prompting an FIR with the Kandivali Police.

Investigation and Arrest

Investigators reviewed CCTV footage from nearby cameras and identified two individuals involved in the crime. They had traveled to Kandivali by train from Naigaon. Following a thorough investigation, Shaikh was apprehended from the Ekta Nagar creek area.

Shaikh resides in Rathodi village, Malwani. He has a prior criminal record comprising four offenses, including thefts from other temples, motorcycle theft, and a case of child sexual abuse.

Police Action

The arrest was executed by a police team under the supervision of DCP Sandip Ghuge and Senior Inspector Karan Sonkavde. The police continue to investigate the involvement of the second individual.
