In a significant crackdown on immigration violations, Delhi Police have apprehended 23 foreign nationals from five African countries who were either overstaying their visas or had entered India without proper documentation. The month-long operation concluded on Friday with deportation proceedings initiated against all detainees.
Month-Long Operation Across Dwarka District
The Dwarka district police conducted intensive intelligence-based checks throughout October and November 2025, targeting foreign nationals residing illegally in the capital. Police teams had been developing intelligence on foreign nationals allegedly residing illegally in the area before executing coordinated operations across multiple police stations.
According to official statements, the operation saw personnel from Bindapur police station apprehending 20 individuals during October, while Dabri police station detained two and Mohan Garden police station detained one additional person. All arrests were made based on routine intelligence-driven verification checks conducted across the district.
Demographic Details of Apprehended Individuals
The detained individuals comprised both men and women aged between their twenties and forties, representing a diverse group from across the African continent. The breakdown by nationality reveals:
- 15 nationals from Nigeria
- 4 nationals from Senegal
- 2 nationals from Ivory Coast
- 1 national from Tanzania
- 1 national from Liberia
Police confirmed that all detainees were either overstaying their permitted duration in India or had entered the country without valid travel documents, constituting clear violations of Indian immigration laws.
Legal Proceedings and Deportation Orders
Following their apprehension, all 23 individuals were produced before the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), which serves as the primary authority for matters concerning foreign nationals in India. The FRRO examined each case and subsequently ordered the deportation of all detained individuals.
In compliance with FRRO directives, police authorities transferred the foreign nationals to a designated detention center where they will remain until formal deportation procedures are completed. The detention center operates under specific protocols to house foreign nationals awaiting removal from the country.
This operation highlights Delhi Police's continued focus on identifying and processing individuals who violate Indian immigration laws. The systematic approach involving intelligence gathering, targeted verification, and coordinated action across multiple police stations demonstrates the organized methodology being employed to address illegal immigration concerns in the national capital.
