Chandigarh: A 25-year-old man was discovered murdered in a forested area near a petrol pump in Manimajra on Saturday morning. The deceased, Krishan Pandey, had a leather belt tied around his neck. The body was found in a semi-naked condition.

The victim, a resident of Mauli Jagran, worked as a watchman at the PWD office located behind the forest area on the road opposite Kalagram. According to Anand Pandey, the brother of the deceased, Krishan worked the night shift from 8 PM to 5 AM and typically returned home between 8 AM and 9 AM each day.

On Saturday, when Krishan did not return home by 9:30 AM, his wife Khushbu expressed serious concern to her brother-in-law. Anand stated that he contacted one of Krishan's co-workers, who informed him that Krishan had left work and would be home shortly. Shortly thereafter, Khushbu received a call from an unknown number instructing her to rush to the forest area. Upon arrival, the family found Krishan's body, which bore visible injury marks.

Teams from the police, the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), and a dog squad inspected the crime scene. Sources indicate that police have taken two suspects, Monu and Moni, into custody for interrogation. The last call Krishan received was from Monu. Additionally, sources mentioned that Anand is being questioned. Police confirmed that there are no CCTV cameras in the forest area.

Krishan is survived by his wife, a daughter, and a son. The family originally hails from Uttar Pradesh.
