A tragic road accident on the outskirts of Ludhiana claimed the lives of three young men on Saturday evening. The fatal incident occurred on the Boparai link road when the motorcycle they were riding collided head-on with a tractor-trailer.
Blinding Lights Lead to Fatal Collision
According to police officials, the primary cause of the crash was the intense, blinding lights from the oncoming tractor. The collision took place between 6 and 7 PM. Parvinder Singh, aged around 21, was driving the motorcycle at the time. Investigators stated that the powerful beams from the tractor-trailer approaching from the opposite direction severely impaired the rider's vision, leading directly to the accident.
Victims and Immediate Aftermath
The three deceased were all residents of Gehal village in Barnala district. They have been identified as Parvinder Singh, Malkit Singh, and Akashdeep. Local sources reported that Parvinder Singh died instantly at the scene, with his body found in a roadside field. Akashdeep Singh and Malkit Singh sustained severe injuries.
An ambulance rushed to the spot and transported the injured to the government hospital in Sudhar. Due to the critical nature of their wounds, they were later referred to the civil hospital in Ludhiana for advanced treatment. Tragically, both succumbed to their injuries at the Ludhiana facility.
Police Probe and Family Compromise
A team from the Sudhar police station arrived at the Boparai link road to investigate. Police sources identified the tractor driver as Satnam Singh of Khandoor. In a significant development, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Gurnam Singh, the investigating officer, revealed that the families of the deceased chose not to pursue a formal police case. They entered into a compromise with the tractor driver, settling the matter outside of the legal system.
This heartbreaking event echoes a similar tragedy from November 12, where two youths lost their lives in a collision involving a car and a motorcycle on the Jodhan-Pakhowal road near Sarabha village. The latest incident underscores the persistent dangers on Punjab's roads, particularly those related to poor visibility and high-beam headlights.
