The Delhi Police have arrested three individuals for their alleged involvement in a fake visa racket operating in the national capital. The accused were producing and supplying forged visas to foreign nationals, enabling them to enter India illegally. According to police officials, the racket came to light during a routine check at the Indira Gandhi International Airport when a passenger was found carrying a counterfeit visa. The subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the three suspects, who have been identified as Rajesh Kumar, Mohan Singh, and Vikas Sharma.
Details of the Racket
The trio is believed to have been running the operation for several months, targeting individuals from neighboring countries such as Nepal and Bangladesh. They would charge hefty sums for the forged documents, which were often of high quality and difficult to detect. Police have recovered several fake visa stamps, computers, and other equipment used in the forgery from their hideout in the Jamia Nagar area. The accused are also suspected of having links with international agents who facilitated the supply of fake visas.
Police Investigation
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Airport) Sanjay Bhatia stated that the arrested individuals have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Passport Act. Investigations are ongoing to identify other members of the network, including those who may have purchased the forged visas. The police are also working with immigration authorities to enhance security measures and prevent similar incidents in the future.
This case highlights the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in combating document forgery and illegal immigration. The Delhi Police have urged citizens to report any suspicious activities related to visa fraud to the authorities.
