In a significant breakthrough, the Bengaluru police have arrested three interstate burglars and recovered gold and silver ornaments valued at approximately Rs 40 lakh. The arrests were made following a detailed investigation into a series of thefts reported across the city and neighboring states.
Details of the Arrest
The accused were identified as Ravi Kumar, a native of Bihar; Suresh, hailing from Uttar Pradesh; and Mahesh, from Rajasthan. They were apprehended from a hideout in the outskirts of Bengaluru. The police also seized tools used for breaking locks and other incriminating evidence from their possession.
Modus Operandi
The gang primarily targeted locked houses during daytime when the residents were away at work. They would break open doors and windows using specialized tools and steal gold, silver, and cash. The stolen items were then sold to local jewelers or melted to avoid detection.
Recovery of Stolen Property
The recovered items include gold chains, bangles, rings, earrings, and silver articles. The police have initiated the process of returning the stolen property to the rightful owners after verifying their claims. The total value of the recovered ornaments is estimated at Rs 40 lakh.
Investigation and Legal Action
The arrests were made by a special team formed under the guidance of the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner. The accused have been remanded to judicial custody and further investigations are underway to trace their involvement in other similar crimes across the country.
This operation underscores the commitment of the Bengaluru police to curb property crimes and ensure the safety of citizens. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
