A horrific road accident involving a private bus in Rajasthan's Jalore district has resulted in three fatalities and left over a dozen passengers seriously injured. The tragedy unfolded late on Sunday night on National Highway 325, casting a pall of grief over the Ahore police station area.
The Sequence of a Tragic Night
The ill-fated private bus had commenced its journey from Sanchore around 6 pm on Sunday, bound for Karauli. According to police officials, the accident occurred near the Ahore area around 11 pm, a time when most passengers were in deep sleep. The vehicle, after allegedly veering out of control, crashed into a roadside neem tree with tremendous force before overturning completely.
Eyewitness accounts and passenger allegations paint a grim picture of driver negligence. It is claimed that the bus driver was intoxicated and driving at high speed. In a shocking act of carelessness, witnesses stated that just before the crash, the driver let go of the steering wheel to rub pan masala with both hands. This momentary lapse led to the bus hurtling off its path, resulting in the catastrophic collision.
Victims and the Harrowing Rescue
The deceased have been identified as Faglu Ram Bishnoi (75) and his wife Hau Devi (65), residents of Sanchore. The elderly couple was traveling to Ajmer to visit their son's family. The impact of the crash was so severe that Hau Devi was decapitated, while Faglu Ram's leg was severed. Their bodies were found badly trapped under the overturned bus.
The third victim, Amritlal from Bharatpur, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the Jalore district hospital. Following the crash, a desperate rescue operation was launched. Passengers had to be pulled out by breaking the bus windows. Police and locals rushed to assist at the spot.
Thirteen passengers sustained serious injuries and were initially admitted to the Ahore government hospital. Given the critical nature of their wounds, two of them, including Amritlal, were referred to the larger facility in Jalore for advanced care.
Aftermath and Police Investigation
The bus driver, whose identity is yet to be officially disclosed, fled from the accident spot and remains absconding. A police team led by Ahore SHO Karan Singh is actively searching for him. The investigation is heavily leaning towards charges of negligent driving and culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
This incident has once again raised urgent questions about road safety, the enforcement of traffic regulations on national highways, and the accountability of private bus operators. The community mourns the loss of lives, particularly the elderly couple whose journey to meet family ended in unimaginable tragedy.
