Tragic Drowning Incident Claims Life of 3-Year-Old Girl in Bhopal
A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Bhopal on Friday morning when a 3-year-old girl died after allegedly drowning in a water tank at an under-construction marriage garden. The tragedy occurred in the Salaiya area of Misrod, casting a shadow over the local community.
Details of the Incident
The victim has been identified as Tuki, also known as Lakshmi Verma, the daughter of Mahendra Verma. The family hails from Banda district in Uttar Pradesh but currently resides at the marriage garden premises where both parents work as caretakers. According to police reports, the incident took place at approximately 9:30 AM on Friday.
The water tank in question was described as a well-like cement structure measuring about 4 feet in depth. It was constructed to store water for the marriage garden's operations. Police noted that although there was very little water inside the tank at the time, the child was too small to escape, leading to the tragic drowning.
How the Tragedy Unfolded
On the morning of the incident, Tuki was playing with other children in the area. It is suspected that she accidentally wandered near the water tank and fell into it while playing. Unfortunately, no one noticed the child's fall at that critical moment.
After some time had passed, a woman employee working at the garden went to the tank to fetch water. It was then that she discovered the child lying motionless in the water. She immediately pulled the girl out and, along with the family, rushed her to a private hospital. Despite their desperate efforts, doctors declared the child dead upon arrival.
Living Conditions at the Premises
Police investigations revealed that 3 to 4 families currently live and work at the under-construction marriage garden. These families, including the Verma family, reside on the premises as part of their caretaking duties. The incident has raised questions about safety measures at construction sites where families live and work.
