Four people were killed when a speeding SUV collided with their scooter on a flyover in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, late Saturday night, police confirmed on Sunday. Among the deceased was a 17-year-old boy.
Details of the Crash
The incident occurred around 10 pm on the Teenpani-Gaulapar bypass flyover. According to police, the SUV struck the scooter from behind, causing fatal injuries to all four occupants. Three individuals—Shivam (25), Anshu Arya (20), and Rahul Rajput (17)—died at the scene. A fourth victim, Aditya Tamta (18), succumbed to his injuries at Sushila Tiwari Hospital later that night.
Victims and Response
All four victims were local residents returning home at the time of the accident. Superintendent of Police (City) Manoj Katyal stated that two occupants of the SUV, including the driver, have been detained for questioning. The vehicle has been seized, and the bodies have been sent for postmortem examination. An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the crash.
