A tragic road accident in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal district has claimed the lives of four members of a single family, highlighting the deadly dangers of driving in dense winter fog. The horrific crash occurred on the Moradabad-Agra highway when a speeding truck rammed into their motorcycle, killing all four on the spot.
Details of the Fatal Collision
The accident took place in the Bahjoi area on Friday amid conditions of extremely poor visibility. According to police officials, the victims were all riding on a single motorcycle and none of them were wearing helmets. The truck driver, identified as Laxman (26), reportedly lost control of his vehicle due to the dense fog before crashing into the two-wheeler.
The victims have been identified as Suresh Kumar (35), a tailor working in Noida; his wife Vimlesh (30); their teenage son Prateek; and their relative Sanjay Kumar (40). The family was travelling to their native village, Kamalpur in Sambhal, for a specific purpose: to pay the school fees for Suresh's two other children, Shivam (Class 9) and Diksha (Class 6). Sanjay, who ran a chaat stall in Delhi, is survived by his wife and three minor children.
Aftermath and Official Response
Sambhal District Magistrate Rajendra Pensiya confirmed the severity of the weather conditions at the time. "The visibility on the highway was extremely low at the time of the accident," he stated. Following the collision, the truck veered off the road and crashed into a tree. The driver, Laxman, and his helper, Santosh (25), both from Indore district in Madhya Pradesh, were injured and trapped inside. They were later rescued by local residents.
The bodies of the deceased were handed over to their families after a postmortem examination. Authorities are now preparing the necessary report so that the affected families can receive financial assistance. An FIR has been registered against the truck driver, and an investigation into the exact circumstances is currently underway.
