UP Police to Deploy 491 New Women Constables After Intensive Varanasi Training

In a significant boost to law enforcement in Uttar Pradesh, 491 women constables are poised to join the police force following the completion of their training at the Varanasi Recruit Training Centre (RTC). The Passing Out Parade, scheduled for April 20, will mark their formal induction into the UP Police, where they will take on critical roles in maintaining law, order, and security across the state.

Mission Shakti: Empowering Women Through Policing

This recruitment drive is a cornerstone of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's ambitious Mission Shakti campaign, which focuses on enhancing the safety, dignity, and self-reliance of women. The newly trained constables are expected to not only combat crime but also serve as catalysts for women's empowerment in society. The government has supported these trainees by providing comprehensive facilities, including accommodation, nutritious food, and both indoor and outdoor training modules.

Police Commissioner Mohit Aggarwal highlighted the extensive curriculum covered during the 9-month training program. Women constables have been equipped with a wide array of skills, ranging from traditional policing duties to modern technological applications. Key areas of instruction include:

Their final examinations are currently underway, and upon successful completion, all trainees will officially serve as constables in the UP Police.

State-of-the-Art Training Facilities in Varanasi

Additional DDCP Ishan Soni provided details on the living conditions at the police lines in Varanasi. The trainee women constables have been residing in a 12-storey building and other barracks, which are equipped with modern amenities such as bunk beds, RO water coolers, canteens, and cooling systems. The facility also includes on-site ATMs and a mess that serves nutritious meals to ensure the well-being of the personnel.

Voices from the New Recruits: A Commitment to Change

The women constables expressed their enthusiasm and dedication to their new roles. Trainee Neetu Gautam stated, "Becoming a soldier of Mission Shakti in police uniform, we will make every woman feel safe. The government has given us this opportunity, and now we will contribute fully to the service and security of society."

Another trainee, Kavita Yadav, added, "We do not want to be merely police personnel, but representatives of change in society. Women constables will become the voice of women alongside upholding the law. We will take the resolve of women's empowerment to every section of society."

Roshni Devi praised the Yogi government for fulfilling its promises regarding women's empowerment and employment. She noted that the announcement of 81,000 new recruitments will provide further opportunities for youth preparing for such roles.

Sonali, a trainee from Munshi Bujurg village in Phulpur, Prayagraj, shared her personal achievement: "I am the first daughter from my village to be recruited into the police department. Now, other daughters in the village are inquiring about the recruitment process. The transparent recruitment system has allowed us to stand on our own feet."

This initiative underscores the UP government's commitment to strengthening police forces with a focus on gender inclusivity and modern policing techniques. The integration of these 491 women constables is expected to enhance public safety and inspire future generations of women in law enforcement.
