5 Arrested in Rajkot After Firing Incident, Weapons Seized

In a significant breakthrough, the Rajkot Rural Police have arrested five individuals and launched a search for four others following the discovery of weapons and a spent bullet casing in a vehicle, which led to the uncovering of a firing incident. The episode, rooted in a dispute over a contract, occurred near Vinchhiya village.

Patrol Interception Leads to Major Discovery

The chain of events began on the night of January 6, when a police team from Vinchhiya was on a routine patrol. Officers noticed three cars moving at high speed on the road connecting Vinchhiya to Ori village. Acting swiftly, the police team intercepted and searched all three vehicles.

During the search, police found five men inside one of the cars. A more thorough inspection yielded critical evidence: two cartridges and two weapons. One cartridge was live, while the other was a spent bullet casing. Of the two weapons seized, one was licensed and the other was an illegal firearm.

Interrogation Reveals Firing Incident Over Contract Dispute

The five occupants were immediately taken to the Vinchhiya police station for questioning. Under interrogation, they disclosed that a firing incident had taken place shortly before their interception. The altercation was allegedly triggered by a conflict over a "contract" work.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dr Naveen Chakravarthy confirmed that the seized weapons and cartridges have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for analysis. The specific details of the contract that sparked the violence are currently under investigation.
