Major IPS Reshuffle in Tamil Nadu
In a significant administrative move, the Tamil Nadu home department issued an order on Monday transferring at least 56 senior police officers, including 15 superintendents of police (SPs) and deputy inspectors general of police (DIGs), to the Chennai city, Tambaram, and Avadi commissionerates.
The reshuffle aims to strengthen the police leadership in key urban areas. Among the notable postings, DIG ES Uma has been appointed as the DIG (headquarters) for the Chennai City Police. SP G Gopi takes over as the deputy commissioner of police (DCP) for the Flower Bazaar district, while Stephen Jesupatham has been assigned as the DCP of the Central Crime Branch (CCB)-III. A Sujatha will serve as the DCP of CCB-II, SP S Rajesh Kannan has been posted as the DCP of Kolathur, DCP P Kumar as the DCP of T Nagar, and SP Samay Singh Meena as the DCP of Pulianthope.
These transfers are part of a routine administrative exercise to optimize police operations and address emerging challenges in law enforcement. The officers are expected to assume their new roles immediately.
