Ludhiana Police Deploys 600 Personnel for Holi Security, 32 Sensitive Spots Identified
In a major security initiative ahead of the Holi festival, Ludhiana police have deployed a total of 600 personnel across the city to maintain law and order and ensure peaceful celebrations on Wednesday. Police commissioner Swapan Sharma has urged residents, particularly youngsters, to celebrate responsibly and avoid hooliganism, warning that strict action will be taken against anyone creating disturbance.
Comprehensive Security Plan with Special Teams on Alert
The police have identified 32 sensitive spots where special teams will remain on high alert throughout the festival. These locations include key areas like Sarabha Nagar market, Malhar Road, Ghumar Mandi, South City, Old City area, Haibowal, Jamalpur market, Chandigarh Road, Dugri, Ferozepur Road, and Bharat Nagar Chowk. Police teams will be stationed at these strategic points to monitor activities and respond promptly to any incidents.
Traffic Police to Enforce Strict Measures Against Violations
Traffic police teams have been deployed to manage vehicular movement and will keep a strict watch on rash driving, drunk driving, and triple riding. Special checkposts are being set up at major chowks and busy markets, and a stringent challan drive will be carried out against defaulters. This proactive approach aims to prevent accidents and ensure smooth traffic flow during the festive period.
Enhanced Monitoring and Emergency Response Systems
Live CCTV camera footage from Smart City project cameras will be monitored throughout the day to enhance surveillance. Residents can report any trouble by dialing 112, and police teams have been instructed to respond immediately to such calls. This integrated system combines technology with ground presence to create a secure environment for celebrations.
Commissioner Sharma emphasized the importance of community cooperation, stating that while police are taking all necessary measures, public adherence to rules is crucial for a safe Holi. The deployment reflects a comprehensive strategy to address potential law and order issues while facilitating joyous festivities across Ludhiana.
