61-Year-Old Theft Suspect Arrested in Kochi

Kochi: Ernakulam Rural police on Saturday arrested a 61-year-old man wanted in several theft cases. Police said Babu A alias Theevatti Babu of Kollam, who has over 40 active theft cases against him across the state, was nabbed within 24 hours of breaking into a shop in Pulluvazhi overnight, from which Rs 15,000 cash, a mobile phone and a tablet were stolen. CCTV footage helped Kuruppadi police track and arrest him from Perumbavoor. He was remanded in judicial custody.

Man Held with Opium

Nedumbassery police arrested Manomohan Singh, 54, from Patiala after CISF personnel at Kochi airport recovered 25 grams of suspected opium from his cap during frisking.

Man Held under KAAPA

Ernakulam Rural police detained a 38-year-old man under the Kerala Anti-Social Activities Prevention Act and lodged him in Viyyur Central Prison. Vishnu K was arrested in connection with an incident in April in which he and an accomplice stabbed a bus driver at Aluva private bus stand and attacked another employee, besides smashing a windscreen. He has three attempt-to-murder cases against him.
