Ramgarh Police Crack Down on Major Copper Theft from Abandoned Steel Plant

In a significant breakthrough, the Ramgarh district police have apprehended seven individuals involved in a daring robbery at a closed steel factory. The incident, which took place on January 12, saw the theft of approximately 2,000 kilograms of copper and various other metal scraps from the Dayal Steel Plant located along the Ramgarh-Bokaro highway.

Details of the Robbery and Arrests

The police revealed that the accused, armed with firearms, forcefully entered the premises of the defunct steel plant. They overpowered the security personnel by holding them at gunpoint before confining them to a room. Subsequently, the perpetrators loaded the stolen metals and scraps into a pickup van and fled the scene.

A case was promptly registered at the Ramgarh police station under section 310 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against 10-12 unidentified miscreants on the same day as the robbery.

Investigation and Recovery

Ramgarh Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar stated that a special investigation team from the district police successfully cracked the case. The recovered copper alone is estimated to be worth around Rs 3 lakh. In addition to the stolen materials, the police also seized country-made pistols, live cartridges, and two pickup vans from the arrested individuals.

The arrested persons have been identified as Mukesh Kumar from Ichak and Randheer Kumar from Bishnugarh in Hazaribag district, along with Akhtar Ali, Sunny Kumar, Maheshwar Belmar, Pankaj Kumar, and Gauri Kumar from various locations in Bokaro district.
