A tragic incident occurred in Davanagere district on Monday morning, when a 70-year-old man lost his life in a fire that engulfed his hut. The deceased, identified as Rekyanayak, reportedly discarded a lit beedi inside his dwelling, inadvertently triggering the blaze.

Incident Details

The fire broke out at Sringarabagu Tanda, located near Basavapatna in Channagiri taluk. Rekyanayak sustained severe burn injuries and was immediately rushed by local residents to a government hospital in Basavapatna. Despite receiving medical attention, he succumbed to his injuries.

Police Investigation

Police from the Basavapatna station arrived at the scene, conducted a thorough inspection, and registered a case. PSI Imtiyaz confirmed that the fire originated after Rekyanayak threw a lit beedi inside the hut. A case of unnatural death has been filed, and further investigations are underway.
