Elderly Man Fatally Shot in Bihar Village Over Land Dispute
A 70-year-old man was shot dead inside his residence in a shocking incident that has rattled a village in Bihar's Banka district. The murder, which occurred on Saturday night, is believed to be connected to a long-standing land dispute, according to local police authorities.

The victim, identified as Surendra Prasad, was a resident of Navtolia village under the jurisdiction of the Belhar police station. On the fateful night, Surendra was sitting inside his house when two armed assailants suddenly forced their way into the premises. Without any warning, the unidentified men opened fire, striking Surendra in the abdomen. He collapsed immediately at the scene, sustaining critical injuries.
The sound of gunshots created widespread panic among the villagers, who rushed to the location after hearing the commotion. The perpetrators managed to flee the area swiftly following the shooting. Family members and local residents quickly moved Surendra to a safer location and alerted the Belhar police station. Tragically, he succumbed to his severe injuries before law enforcement officials could arrive at the scene.

Belhar Sub-Divisional Police Officer Ravindra Mohan Prasad and Station House Officer Dinesh Verma promptly reached the village with a dedicated police team to initiate a thorough investigation. The authorities have launched an extensive probe into the circumstances surrounding the murder.
