AAP Worker Booked for Sexual Exploitation in Surat, Police Launch Manhunt
In a disturbing case from Surat, Gujarat, an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) worker has been formally charged by police for allegedly deceiving a woman into sexual intercourse under false pretenses of marriage. The accused, identified as a resident of Laskana, is currently absconding, prompting authorities to launch an extensive manhunt operation to locate and arrest him.
Details of the Alleged Exploitation
According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed with Surat police, the 38-year-old complainant first encountered the accused on Facebook approximately one year ago. Their initial online interactions gradually evolved into what the woman believed was a genuine romantic relationship. The woman, who operates a home-based soap and shampoo business and lives with her teenage son, became emotionally invested in the connection.
The accused allegedly gained her trust by fabricating serious marital problems, claiming his wife was living separately and that he intended to pursue a divorce. He reportedly made repeated promises to legally end his marriage and subsequently marry the complainant, using these assurances to establish intimacy.
Pattern of Alleged Sexual Exploitation
The woman has told investigators that the accused sexually exploited her on multiple occasions since December 2024. These alleged incidents occurred both at her residence and at various hotels throughout Surat city. Each encounter was reportedly predicated on the understanding that their relationship would culminate in marriage.
When the woman eventually insisted that the accused follow through on his marriage promises, he reportedly refused outright. The situation escalated further when the complainant attempted to hold him accountable for his commitments.
Alleged Threats and Intimidation
In a particularly troubling development, the woman has alleged that the accused threatened both her and her teenage son with dire consequences if she pursued legal action or continued to demand marriage. He allegedly attempted to intimidate her by referencing a past case, warning that her life would become extremely difficult should she proceed with any complaint.
These alleged threats created an atmosphere of fear that initially prevented her from approaching authorities. The accused is believed to have fled Surat late on Friday night after learning that the woman was preparing to file a formal police complaint against him.
Police Investigation and Manhunt Operation
Surat police have registered a case against the AAP worker under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code pertaining to sexual exploitation, cheating, and criminal intimidation. Multiple police teams have been formed and dispatched both within Surat and to locations outside the city in an effort to trace the whereabouts of the accused.
Investigators are pursuing all available leads and examining digital evidence from social media platforms and communication records. The police have assured the public that they are treating this case with utmost seriousness and are committed to ensuring justice for the complainant.
Further investigation is actively underway as authorities work to build a comprehensive case against the accused. Police officials have urged anyone with information about the suspect's location to come forward and assist with the ongoing manhunt operation.
