Abandoned Newborn Rescued in Hazaribag, Under CWC Care

Villagers Hear Cries, Rescue Abandoned Infant

In a distressing incident from Hazaribag district, a newborn baby girl was discovered abandoned in bushes early on Saturday morning. The location was near the Dharampur health sub-centre, situated within the Tatijharia block.

According to sources, local residents first became aware of the situation when they noticed unusual movement and heard the faint cries of an infant emanating from the vegetation. The sounds prompted immediate concern and investigation.

Swift Action by Locals Saves Life

Birendra Halwai, a resident of Dharampur, took the lead in the rescue effort. He carefully retrieved the baby from the bushes. Understanding the urgency, Halwai provided initial care to the newborn at his own residence.

Following this, Ashok Yadav, a mukhiya representative, stepped in to arrange transportation. He secured a vehicle to ensure the infant could be rushed to Sadar Hospital in Hazaribag for proper medical attention. The baby girl is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

Officials Confirm Handover to Child Welfare Committee

The administrative response was swift. Rashmi Khushboo Minz, the Tatijharia Block Development Officer-cum-Circle Officer (BDO-cum-CO), confirmed the official steps taken.

"The newborn has been handed over to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Hazaribag," stated Minz. This procedure is standard in cases of abandoned children, placing the infant under the legal guardianship and care of the committee, which will decide on future rehabilitation, including potential adoption.

The incident has cast a spotlight on the issue of child abandonment in the region. While the immediate rescue story highlights community vigilance and compassion, it also raises serious concerns that authorities are likely to examine further.
