Kerala Police Apprehend Fugitive Criminal in Idukki Following Intensive Manhunt
In a significant breakthrough, the Kanjikuzhy police in Idukki district have successfully arrested an absconding criminal who was involved in numerous cases spanning across the state of Kerala. The accused, identified as Riju Ibrahimkutty, aged 45 and originally from Ochira Valiyakulangara in Kollam district, had been evading law enforcement for an extended period.
Multiple Charges and Widespread Criminal Activities
Riju Ibrahimkutty was wanted in connection with a series of serious offenses, including visa fraud and drug trafficking. Police officials revealed that a specific case had been registered against him for allegedly cheating a resident of Kanjikuzhy by promising a job abroad and fraudulently collecting money. Following this incident, he went into hiding and had been absconding for a considerable duration.
The accused had also been consistently avoiding court appearances for several years, which prompted authorities to initiate a comprehensive search operation to locate and apprehend him. His evasion tactics included using fake names and addresses whenever he was previously caught, thereby misleading police investigations.
Intensified Surveillance and Final Capture
Based on confidential intelligence indicating that Riju frequently visited his wife's residence near Pindimana in Ernakulam district, police intensified surveillance in that area. The breakthrough came during a special search operation conducted in connection with the Vishu festival, leading to his eventual arrest.
According to police statements, approximately 20 cases have been registered against Riju Ibrahimkutty across 13 districts in Kerala. These cases encompass a wide range of criminal activities:
- Visa fraud cases
- Cases involving fraudulent overseas job offers
