The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Hyderabad on Tuesday arrested the engineer-in-chief (ENC) of the roads and buildings (R&B) department after uncovering disproportionate assets worth over Rs 50 crore allegedly belonging to him.
Simultaneous Searches Conducted
ACB teams conducted simultaneous searches at 17 locations, including the residence and offices of ENC Mohan Naik Jarupula, 58, as well as properties of his relatives, associates, and benamis in Hyderabad and Nizamabad on Tuesday morning.
Assets Unearthed
During the searches, the ACB unearthed several assets, including five agricultural land parcels totaling 19.38 acres in Mullangi village of Dichpally mandal in Nizamabad, three flats in Kompally, four flats built on a 500-square-yard commercial property in Gachibowli, a triplex villa in Miyapur, and a newly constructed independent house in Kukatpally. Additionally, an advance of Rs 1 crore had been paid toward the purchase of a newly constructed villa in Nizamabad. Authorities also seized Rs 55 lakh in cash, Rs 1.44 crore in bank balances, 2.5 kilograms of gold ornaments, six kilograms of silver articles, household items worth Rs 1.26 crore, nine mobile phones, four laptops worth Rs 11.25 lakh, and two cars valued at Rs 25 lakh.
An official stated, “The documentary value of the disproportionate assets is estimated to be about Rs 17.94 crore. However, the market value of the assets will be well above Rs 50 crore, as the villa in Miyapur and the Gachibowli commercial property alone are currently valued at about Rs 25-30 crore.”
