ACB Nabs Laboratory Assistant in Dausa Bribery Sting Operation
In a significant crackdown on corruption, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Rajasthan executed a meticulously planned operation on Monday, resulting in the arrest of a laboratory assistant. The accused, identified as Aditya Sharma, was apprehended while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000. This illicit transaction was purportedly conducted on behalf of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) stationed at the Bandikui office in Dausa district.
Complaint Triggers Swift ACB Action
The arrest followed a formal complaint lodged with the ACB helpline (1064), as confirmed by ACB Director General of Police Govind Gupta. The complainant detailed a troubling scenario involving a case titled Mansi vs Shivlakhan & Others, which was filed in the SDM Court, Bandikui, on April 15. According to the allegations, SDM Ramsingh Rajawat demanded a bribe of Rs 30,000 through his subordinate, Aditya Sharma, in exchange for granting a stay order in the ongoing legal matter. The complainant further reported instances of harassment linked to this monetary demand.
Verification and Trap Laid by Authorities
Upon receiving the complaint, ACB officials promptly initiated a verification process. During this phase, they substantiated the demand for Rs 15,000 by Sharma. However, it remains unclear whether the funds were intended for the SDM, as this aspect is still under investigation. Acting on this verified information, a trap was strategically set under the direct supervision of Deputy Inspector General Bhuvan Bhushan. The operation culminated in Sharma being caught red-handed while accepting the bribe amount.
Legal Proceedings and Ongoing Investigations
An FIR has been officially registered under the stringent provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. In the aftermath of the arrest, comprehensive searches were conducted at both the accused's residence and office premises. Authorities are diligently examining whether Sharma was acting independently, collecting money in the SDM's name without his knowledge, or if there was any collusion. The extent of SDM Ramsingh Rajawat's involvement, if any, will be conclusively determined as the investigation progresses.
This incident underscores the ACB's unwavering commitment to rooting out corruption in public offices. It serves as a stark reminder of the legal repercussions faced by individuals engaged in such malpractices, reinforcing the importance of transparency and accountability in governance.
