ACB Cracks Down on Corruption in Bhilwara Land Registration Case

The Ajmer Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has made significant arrests in a bribery case that highlights systemic corruption in land registration processes. In a meticulously planned operation, the ACB team apprehended Atali tehsildar Ganesh Kachchhawa along with two other individuals, including an e-mitra operator, on Friday evening. The arrests stem from allegations that the officials demanded a substantial bribe of Rs 60,000 and an air-conditioner to facilitate the registration of leased land in Jawanpura village.

Complaint Triggers ACB Investigation

According to detailed statements from ACB officials, the investigation was launched following a formal complaint filed by a local resident on March 10. The complainant, who sought to register land taken on lease in Jawanpura village, was initially directed to e-mitra operator Hemraj Khatik for assistance. During their interactions, Khatik informed the complainant that approval from tehsildar Ganesh Kachchhawa was essential for the registration process to proceed smoothly.

Subsequent discussions revealed a disturbing demand: Khatik conveyed that Tehsildar Kachchhawa required a bribe of Rs 60,000 and an air-conditioner to expedite the land registration. This explicit solicitation prompted the complainant to approach the ACB, setting the stage for a thorough probe into the corrupt practices.

Surveillance and Arrest Operations

Led by CI Kanchan Bhati, the ACB team implemented rigorous surveillance and verification measures to corroborate the allegations. After days of monitoring, on Thursday evening, the team witnessed Hemraj Khatik allegedly accepting the bribe money at his office. Acting swiftly, the ACB arrested Khatik on the spot, seizing the illicit funds as evidence.

The investigation did not stop there. Following Khatik's arrest, the ACB interrogated him, leading to the implication of Tehsildar Ganesh Kachchhawa and UDC Hanuman Sahay Meena. Both officials were subsequently arrested after they allegedly confessed to their involvement in the corrupt dealings during questioning. The ACB has registered a case against all three individuals under the stringent provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Seizure and Ongoing Investigation

In addition to the arrests, the ACB successfully seized the entire bribe amount of Rs 60,000. Authorities have emphasized that this case is part of a broader crackdown on corruption in land registration and administrative services. The ACB has initiated a comprehensive investigation to uncover any further wrongdoing or potential links to other corrupt activities associated with this case.

Key Points of the Case:

  • Arrested Individuals: Tehsildar Ganesh Kachchhawa, e-mitra operator Hemraj Khatik, and UDC Hanuman Sahay Meena.
