The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Jaipur apprehended a Patwari in the Kotputli-Neemrana belt of Behror on Tuesday evening for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 4,500. Officials confirmed that the Patwari was detained and questioning is underway.
Complaint and Trap
According to Gyanprakash Naval, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Jaipur, a complainant approached the ACB alleging that the Patwari was demanding a bribe for boundary determination (seemajnan) related to the complainant’s land. The complainant stated that the Patwari sought cash in exchange for completing the government work.
ACB officials verified the complaint and confirmed a demand of Rs 10,000. Subsequently, a trap was arranged. The ACB team caught the Patwari red-handed while he was accepting Rs 4,500 at the spot.
Operation and Investigation
The operation was conducted under the leadership of ACB Jaipur ASP Gyanprakash Naval and under the supervision of Anti-Corruption Bureau Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Omprakash Meena. Officials said that required legal formalities are being completed.
A case is being registered against the accused Patwari under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The investigation will also examine whether the accused previously demanded bribes in a similar manner. The probe may scrutinize records related to the accused’s income, property, and financial dealings. If indications of assets disproportionate to income or other irregularities are found, the investigation could be expanded.
Public Reaction
The arrest has led to heightened activity in the area, particularly within the Revenue Department. Members of the public often need to visit Revenue Department offices repeatedly for land demarcation, mutation, and other tasks. When allegations of bribery emerge, public dissatisfaction is also observed. Local residents have stated that such actions are necessary to maintain transparency and accountability in government work.
The ACB confirmed that interrogation of the accused Patwari is continuing and all aspects of the matter remain under investigation.
