The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted a trap operation on Friday and arrested two employees of Dr Kedar Narayan Modi University in Tonk district for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000. The action followed a complaint regarding an alleged bribery racket operating within the institution.
Arrested Officials Identified
The arrested individuals have been identified as Meenu Gangwal, Head of the BEd Department, and Professor Ramesh Meena. According to the ACB, the duo allegedly demanded money from a student in exchange for allowing him to appear in examinations.
Details of the Complaint
Tonk ACB ASP Rishiraj Meena stated that the complainant alleged he was being prevented from taking exams due to prolonged absence and was asked to pay Rs 20,000 to resolve the matter. After verifying the complaint, the ACB set up a trap and caught both accused red-handed while accepting the bribe.
Further Investigation Underway
The ACB also identified another female student who was allegedly being similarly barred from appearing in examinations. During the operation, officials seized registers and other documents from the university for further investigation. A case has been registered, and the ACB has started probing whether more students were similarly extorted by university staff.
