Anti-Corruption Bureau Nabs ASI in Alwar Bribery Sting Operation
In a significant crackdown on police corruption, the Bharatpur Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) executed a meticulously planned operation at Roopwas police station in Alwar on Monday. The team successfully trapped Assistant Sub-Inspector Praveen Kumar Singh while he was in the act of accepting a bribe amounting to Rs 12,000.
Details of the Bribery Case and FIR Manipulation
According to ACB Additional Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar Singh, the illicit transaction was directly linked to an ongoing assault investigation. An FIR had been registered against the complainant at the Roopwas police station, with ASI Praveen Kumar Singh assigned as the investigating officer. The officer allegedly exploited his position by demanding the bribe as a condition for removing the complainant's name from the official First Information Report.
The complainant formally lodged a grievance with the ACB on Sunday, prompting immediate action. Following a thorough verification process to confirm the allegations, the anti-corruption team mobilized and carried out the decisive operation on Monday, catching the ASI in the act.
Operational Execution and Legal Proceedings
The ACB's operation underscores its commitment to rooting out corruption within law enforcement agencies. This incident highlights a serious breach of trust and legal protocol, where a public servant tasked with upholding the law instead sought to subvert it for personal gain.
Authorities have emphasized that such actions will not be tolerated, and the case is now proceeding through the appropriate legal channels. The arrest serves as a stern warning to other officials who might consider engaging in similar corrupt practices.
