In a dramatic incident at the Hisar district court on Tuesday, an accused managed to break free from police custody, only to be recaptured within minutes thanks to the swift action of an alert police officer. This event marks the second such security breach at the court complex in just four days, raising serious concerns.
Dramatic Escape and Swift Recapture
The accused has been identified as Rahul alias Bunty, a resident of Siwani. The incident occurred when a police team brought him to the court premises for a scheduled production before the Judicial Magistrate. Seizing a momentary opportunity, Rahul broke away and attempted to flee the scene.
However, his freedom was short-lived. The court police were immediately alerted. ASI Ravindra, who is posted at the Balsamand police outpost and was present on court duty, heard the commotion. Springing into action, he chased the fleeing accused for nearly 200 metres, cornered him, and successfully apprehended him, preventing a potential escape.
Background of the Accused and Previous Incident
Rahul alias Bunty was being produced in connection with a serious case involving house-trespass and assault on a woman on Kamary Road in Hisar. His quick recapture averted a longer manhunt.
This episode brings to light a worrying pattern at the Hisar district courts. Just four days prior, on Friday, another accused, Vishal, a resident of Gabipur, had escaped in a dramatic fashion. Vishal, who was being produced in a theft case, managed to flee by jumping from the court roof and scaling a 12-foot high wall. A large-scale police search was launched, and he was finally arrested on Monday by the Narwana police in the Jind district.
Security Concerns and Aftermath
The back-to-back incidents within a single week have put a spotlight on the security protocols at the Hisar district court premises. The fact that two different accused individuals could attempt to escape in such a short span suggests potential vulnerabilities that need urgent addressing.
While the alertness of ASI Ravindra in Tuesday's case is commendable and prevented a successful escape, the repeated attempts highlight a systemic issue. Authorities are likely to review and tighten security measures to prevent such breaches in the future and ensure the safe custody of accused persons during court proceedings.
