Jaipur: Agniveer Vayu Khemaram Kumawat (22), who was martyred in an Indian Air Force AN-32 aircraft crash in Jorhat, Assam, was laid to rest with full military honours in his native village of Panchota in Nagaur district on Monday evening.
Final Journey of the Martyr
His mortal remains were flown to Jaipur airport on Monday morning in a special aircraft. After military honours were accorded at the airport, the body was taken to Panchota. At Jaipur airport, law and parliamentary affairs minister Jogaram Patel, Jaipur MP Manju Sharma, Jaipur collector Sandesh Nayak, and district Sainik Welfare officer Jai Rathore paid tributes by laying floral wreaths on the coffin.
Last Rites in Panchota
Upon reaching Panchota, the body was kept at the Government Senior Secondary School to allow villagers to pay their last respects. Air Force personnel accorded military honours as the mortal remains were brought to the school. The family broke down when Indian Air Force officials handed over the Tricolour to Khemaram's father, Ramdev Kumawat, and his brothers.
A five-kilometre-long Tiranga Yatra was taken out in the village before the funeral. At the cremation ground, Air Force personnel presented a Guard of Honour as family members performed the last rites.
