In a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves through Agra, a 32-year-old human resources manager at a private company was brutally beheaded and dismembered in her office, allegedly by her lover who then attempted to dispose of the body parts in the Yamuna river.
Gruesome Details of the Crime
The victim, identified as Minky Sharma, a resident of Agra's Tedhi Bagiya area under Trans Yamuna police station, worked at a private company in the upscale Sanjay Place locality. According to police investigations, the accused, 30-year-old Vinay Singh who worked as a computer operator in the same office, carried out the horrific attack on January 23.
Office Attack and Attempted Disposal
Police revealed that when Minky arrived at her office around 2 PM on January 23, she and Vinay engaged in a heated argument. During this confrontation, Vinay allegedly attacked her with a knife, inflicting a fatal blow to her neck. After killing her, he proceeded to dismember her body, separating her head from her torso and further mutilating her legs.
"There was no one else in the office at the time of the attack on the victim," confirmed investigating officers. Following the brutal murder, Vinay reportedly placed the severed head in a backpack and stuffed the remaining body parts into a plastic bag. He then loaded these onto Minky's scooter and attempted to transport them to Jawahar Bridge with the intention of dumping them into the Yamuna river.
Failed Disposal and Investigation
When Vinay reached the bridge, he reportedly struggled to lift the heavy bag containing the body parts. Noticing some passersby in the area, he abandoned the bag and fled the scene. Later, he disposed of the victim's head, clothing, mobile phone, and bag into a drain, leaving the scooter at a secluded location.
Police discovered the body parts stuffed in a gunny bag near the bridge in the early hours of January 24. The victim's head remains missing despite extensive search operations.
Relationship Dispute and Arrest
During the investigation, police determined that Vinay and Minky had been in a relationship for over two years, though the victim's family has denied this claim. According to police statements, Vinay became suspicious after learning that Minky had been in contact with another man for approximately six months, leading to frequent arguments between them.
"Vinay worked with Minky for the past two years and had some dispute with her," said DCP (City) Sayed Ali Abbas. "He wanted to marry her, but she refused. When she arrived at her office on Jan 23, they had an argument. He attacked her with a knife, inflicting a fatal blow on her neck."
Police Investigation and Identification
When Minky failed to return home by late evening on January 23 and her phone remained switched off, her family began searching for her and eventually filed a missing person complaint. The family later identified the recovered body parts as belonging to Minky.
Police arrested Vinay Singh on Monday, and he has reportedly confessed to the crime. "Footage of CCTVs at various places in the city helped in identifying the accused," revealed a police officer involved in the investigation.
Legal Proceedings
An FIR has been registered at Trans Yamuna police station under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 103(1) for murder and Section 238 for destroying evidence, along with relevant sections of the Arms Act. The investigation continues as authorities work to recover the missing head and gather additional evidence for the prosecution.
The brutal nature of this workplace murder has raised serious concerns about safety and relationship violence in professional environments, with local authorities emphasizing the importance of addressing domestic and relationship disputes before they escalate to such extreme violence.
