Agra Murder-Suicide: Man Kills Estranged Wife, Self

A 27-year-old man allegedly shot his 25-year-old estranged wife dead after an argument and then turned the gun on himself in a murder-suicide in Agra's Suryanagar Colony on Thursday night, police said.

Details of the Incident

The deceased woman, identified as Pokhan Kumari (23), was a native of Kandhari village in Datia district, Madhya Pradesh. She had been living separately from her husband, Mithun Kumar, a resident of Jhansi who worked as a cab driver in Delhi-NCR. The couple had a love marriage five years ago but began living apart after Pokhan suspected Mithun of having an extramarital affair.

Events Leading to the Tragedy

Pokhan had been staying with her friend Ragini in Mathura for the past few days and was employed at a beauty salon. She had previously worked at a spa center in Gonda. Mithun tracked her down to Mathura on Thursday. Around 9 pm, an argument broke out between them over an ongoing marital dispute that was being contested in court. Mithun allegedly pressured her to end the legal proceedings, but she refused. Enraged, he pulled out a country-made pistol and shot her, according to SHO Prashant Kapil.
