In a tragic incident in Agra, a 14-year-old student lost his life after being run over by a private bus moments after disembarking near his residence in the Motikunj Tiraha area of Mathura. The bus has been seized, and the driver has been arrested, as confirmed by police on Saturday.

Details of the Fatal Incident

The accident occurred on Friday when Harshit Sharma, a Class 9 student at an Army school, had just returned home after completing his mathematics examination. According to a police complaint filed by his uncle, Harikrishna Sharma, Harshit stepped off the bus when the driver allegedly moved forward in a negligent manner, resulting in the fatal collision that claimed the teenager's life.

Police officials swiftly responded to the scene, taking the driver into custody and sending the body for a postmortem examination. SHO Shailender Kumar Singh clarified that the bus was not affiliated with the school, stating, "The driver has been arrested and the bus has been seized. A case has been registered against him under section 106 (causing death by negligence) of the BNS."

Family Background and Circumstances

Family members revealed that Harshit typically cycled to school but had opted to take the bus with friends on that particular day. His father, Mukesh Sharma, an Army jawan currently stationed in Kashmir, was home on leave for the Holi festival at the time of the incident, adding to the family's grief.

This heartbreaking event underscores ongoing concerns about road safety and negligence in the region, prompting calls for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations to prevent such tragedies in the future.
