AMC Demolishes 720 Sq Ft Illegal Constructions of History-Sheeter in Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad: AMC demolishes illegal assets of criminal

In a decisive move against crime and illegal urban sprawl, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), backed by city police, carried out a significant demolition drive on Thursday. The target was unauthorised constructions linked to a notorious history-sheeter in the Maktampura area, marking a continued crackdown on assets tied to criminal elements.

Demolition Drive Targets Criminal's Illegal Assets

The operation focused on house numbers 39 and 40 at Almast Row House, located on agricultural zone land behind the Fatehwadi Canal. After serving due legal notices, AMC teams, with security support from the Vejalpur police station, razed illegal ground-floor constructions. The demolished structures covered an area of approximately 720 square feet and were found to be in clear violation of building norms and zoning regulations.

A Notorious Offender with Extensive Criminal Record

Police officials confirmed that the properties belonged to a known history-sheeter, a resident of the Fatehwadi Kaswapark area. The individual has a staggering 33 criminal cases registered against him across Ahmedabad city and other districts of Gujarat. His alleged offences span a range of serious crimes, including:

  • Attempt to murder
  • Violations under the NDPS Act (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act)
  • Assault
  • Illegal trafficking of intoxicants
  • Theft
  • Cases under the Prohibition Act

Authorities stated that this action is a strategic part of a broader initiative to deter criminal activities by systematically targeting the illegally acquired or constructed properties of habitual offenders.

Parallel Anti-Encroachment Operation in Makarba

In a related development on the same day, the AMC also conducted a road-clearing operation in the Makarba area. The focus was a 7.5-meter-wide town planning road stretching from the Narol–Sarkhej National Highway to Haideribag Society under TP Scheme No 84/A. The civic body removed encroachments along a 210-meter stretch of this planned road to facilitate pending development work and ensure smooth traffic flow.

These coordinated actions underscore the administration's twin focus: dismantling the economic infrastructure of criminals and reclaiming public spaces from illegal encroachments. The demolition in Maktampura sends a strong message that properties built unlawfully, especially those linked to individuals with extensive criminal backgrounds, will not be tolerated.
