Ahmedabad ANTF Conducts Major Drug Bust in Khadia Area
In a decisive crackdown on narcotics, the Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of the Ahmedabad zone, operating under CID crime, executed a successful raid in the Khadia locality, leading to the seizure of a substantial quantity of mephedrone and the arrest of one individual. The operation, which unfolded on Tuesday, underscores the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the city.
Raid Details and Arrest
Acting on credible intelligence, the ANTF team mobilized near the Raipur Darwaza AMTS stand, strategically positioned opposite the Khadia police station. During the surveillance, officers intercepted Faizal Dhallawala, a 25-year-old resident of Danilimda, who was observed moving suspiciously in the area. Upon conducting a thorough search, authorities recovered 30.60 grams of mephedrone from his possession.
The seized contraband, with an estimated street value of Rs 91,800, represents a significant blow to local drug distribution networks. Additionally, a mobile phone valued at Rs 5,000 was confiscated as part of the evidence. Faizal Dhallawala was promptly arrested at the scene, marking a swift response to the tip-off.
Legal Proceedings and Further Investigations
A formal complaint has been lodged by PSI R D Solanki of the ANTF, invoking Sections 8(c), 22(b), and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. These sections pertain to the prohibition, control, and regulation of narcotic substances, as well as abetment and criminal conspiracy, highlighting the seriousness of the offence.
In this case, two other individuals have been implicated: Faizan Byavarwala from Jamalpur and Mehrban Singh Sisodia from Nagda in Madhya Pradesh. They are currently being traced by authorities as part of the expanding investigation. The case has now been transferred to the Khadia police station for deeper scrutiny.
Ongoing Efforts and Implications
Officials have emphasized that the primary focus of the ongoing investigation is to uncover the source of the mephedrone and dismantle the broader network involved in its distribution. This raid is part of a larger strategy by law enforcement agencies to curb drug-related activities in Ahmedabad and ensure public safety.
The ANTF's proactive measures, supported by community tips, demonstrate a commitment to tackling narcotics at the grassroots level. As the investigation progresses, further updates are expected to shed light on the connections and operations behind this illicit trade.
