In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the anti-narcotics task force of CID Crime and Railways conducted a targeted raid at a flat in Ahmedabad's Bopal area, resulting in the seizure of narcotic substances and liquor valued at approximately Rs 18 lakh. The operation led to the arrest of one individual, with authorities confirming that four other suspects are currently evading capture.
Intelligence-Led Operation Uncovers Drug Cache
Acting on specific and actionable intelligence regarding the illegal storage of drugs at a residential property, the Ahmedabad Zone ANTF team executed a meticulously planned search under the direct supervision of senior officers. The raid took place at Aarohi Viviana Apartments in Bopal, where law enforcement officials uncovered a substantial quantity of prohibited substances intended for distribution.
Detailed Inventory of Seized Items
The confiscated narcotics included 102.5 grams of methamphetamine, a highly addictive stimulant, along with 46.6 grams of hybrid marijuana and 8.8 grams of cocaine. In addition to the drugs, the team seized six bottles of Indian-made foreign liquor and 24 beer tins, highlighting the multifaceted nature of the illegal activities. Four mobile phones were also recovered from the premises, which are believed to have been used in coordinating the distribution network.
Suspect Profile and Legal Proceedings
The arrested accused has been identified as a resident of the apartment complex, with origins traced back to Rajkot. Authorities have registered a formal case under the stringent Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Prohibition Act, underscoring the serious legal implications of the offenses. The investigation has now been transferred to the Bopal police station, which will spearhead efforts to trace the source and supply chain of the seized narcotics and liquor.
Ongoing Investigation and Community Impact
With four suspects still at large, the investigation remains active and focused on dismantling the broader network involved in this illicit trade. This raid is part of a broader initiative by law enforcement agencies to combat drug abuse and illegal liquor sales in the region, aiming to enhance public safety and curb organized crime. The seizure of such a significant haul demonstrates the effectiveness of intelligence-driven operations in disrupting narcotics distribution channels.
