In a significant crackdown, the Ahmedabad City Crime Branch has apprehended a 44-year-old repeat offender and confiscated two countrymade pistols along with four live cartridges during a routine patrol operation in the Danilimda area. Acting on precise and actionable intelligence, law enforcement officials intercepted the accused individual near his residential premises and conducted a thorough search, which led to the discovery of the illegal weapons valued at approximately Rs 10,400.

A formal case has been registered at the Detection of Crime Branch police station under relevant sections of the Arms Act. The authorities emphasized that the seized firearms pose a serious threat to public safety, and their recovery is a crucial step in curbing illegal weapon circulation in the region.

Police investigations reveal that the accused possesses a lengthy and troubling criminal record, having been previously implicated in multiple serious offences. His history includes a 2013 case of attempted murder, coupled with charges under the Explosive Substances Act and the Arms Act. Additionally, he has been involved in various other criminal activities such as violations of prohibitory orders, jail offences, and rioting incidents.
Officials further disclosed that the individual was booked again in 2025 under the Arms Act and the Gujarat Police Act, highlighting a pattern of recurring criminal behavior. Prior to 2013, he had also been arrested in cases related to illegal weapons and other criminal offences, underscoring his persistent engagement in unlawful activities.
