According to a formal complaint filed with Vejalpur police, the victims were identified as Nailesh Bhabhor, a 26-year-old native of Dahod who currently resides in Sarkhej, and his wife Sarla. The couple was performing their regular duties for a private waste management firm operating in the Maktampura ward when the incident unfolded around 6:45 AM.
The confrontation began when two unidentified men approached the couple near Moyyuddin Masjid, located between A-One Nagar and Kaswa Park. The assailants allegedly questioned why all garbage had not been collected, sparking a verbal altercation that quickly escalated into violence.
One of the men reportedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Nailesh on his right shoulder and palm. The attackers then robbed him of a silver chain valued at approximately Rs 5,000 and a mobile phone at knifepoint. The second assailant allegedly threatened Sarla with dire consequences if she reported the matter to authorities.
Supervisor Intervention and Police Response
When supervisor Shehzad Sheikh arrived at the scene, he too was allegedly attacked and sustained injuries. Local residents intervened and managed to overpower one suspect before police could arrive at the location.
The apprehended suspect has been identified as Anas Sheikh, a resident of Fatehwadi. His alleged accomplice, identified only as Sohil, remains absconding as police continue their search operations. All injured parties received medical treatment at private hospitals following the violent incident.
