A devastating hit-and-run incident in Ahmedabad resulted in the death of a 34-year-old man on Saturday morning, sending shockwaves through the local community. The victim, identified as Bhanwarlal Gurjar, succumbed to severe injuries after a car allegedly collided with his motorcycle near the Ognaj-Lapkaman Crossroads.
Details of the Fatal Accident
According to a complaint filed with the A-division traffic police, the accident occurred around 9:40 AM on February 21 near the Lalji Mehrotra Lions School Crossroads. Bhanwarlal Gurjar, a resident of Ognaj who operated a scrap business near LML School, had left his warehouse at approximately 9:30 AM on his motorcycle to purchase ice from Gota. As he approached the crossroads, a hatchback car coming from the SP Ring Road side reportedly struck his bike with significant force.
The impact of the collision was so severe that it threw Bhanwarlal onto the road, causing critical injuries. He sustained head trauma, along with injuries to his ribs and left hand. A relative, Sukhlal Gurjar, who arrived at the scene shortly after the incident, immediately arranged for his transportation to Sola Civil Hospital using a 108 ambulance.

Upon arrival at the hospital, doctors noted that Bhanwarlal was unconscious and bleeding profusely from his head, ears, and mouth. Despite urgent medical intervention, he was declared dead at 11:25 AM during treatment. The complaint, lodged by his uncle Ladu Gurjar, a 48-year-old scrap trader residing in Tragad, highlighted the gravity of the situation.
In a troubling turn of events, the driver of the hatchback car abandoned the vehicle at the accident site and fled the scene. Police have registered an offence under sections for causing death by negligence, rash driving, and damaging property. Investigators are actively examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify the perpetrator and are also tracing the registered owner of the car to gather more clues.
