Ahmedabad: Husband kills wife, then dies by suicide

A shocking case of suspected murder-suicide has shaken the Bapunagar area of Ahmedabad, with police launching an investigation after a man allegedly killed his wife before taking his own life.

Grim Discovery by Younger Brother

The tragic incident came to light on Tuesday night when Ramesh Thakor (20), the younger brother of the accused, returned home from work around 9 pm. According to his police complaint, he received no response after repeatedly knocking on the front and back doors of the residence.

Alarmed by the silence, Ramesh noticed a partially open window. Using the flashlight on his mobile phone, he peered inside and made a horrifying discovery: blood on the kitchen floor and a pair of feet visible within the house.

Scene of the Crime

Ramesh immediately alerted relatives and neighbours. Together, they forced open the main door to confront a devastating scene. Inside, they found Mehul Thakor hanging from a ceiling hook with a saree. He had injuries on his hand and neck.

In the kitchen, his wife, Neeta Thakor, was lying with severe injuries to her neck and ribs. Preliminary investigation suggests the wounds were inflicted by a sharp weapon. The couple had been married for four years and did not have any children.

Police Investigation Underway

The Bapunagar police have registered a case of murder and are conducting a thorough investigation. The motive behind the extreme step is not yet known, and authorities are piecing together the events that led to the double tragedy.

Forensic teams examined the scene to gather evidence. Police officials stated that further investigation is ongoing to understand the complete sequence of events and the circumstances that prompted the crime.
