A disturbing video capturing a man allegedly assaulting his wife and teenage daughter at their home in the Ranip area of Ahmedabad went viral on social media on Monday, sparking widespread outrage and immediate police intervention. The incident, which occurred on Sunday afternoon, came to light after the injured woman was admitted to Civil Hospital for treatment.
Financial Dispute Escalates into Violent Attack
According to the formal complaint lodged with the Ranip police, the 40-year-old homemaker resides with her father and two daughters. On the day of the incident, a relative visited her, and a discussion over pending financial matters reportedly ignited a heated argument. The relative subsequently informed her husband about the matter, leading to a rapid escalation of tensions.
The woman alleged that when she demanded the return of money her husband had borrowed, he became aggressive and began hurling abusive language at her. "He got angry and started using abusive language. When I insisted on returning the money, he began beating me," the complainant stated in her police report.
Brutal Assault with Weapons and Daughter's Intervention
The situation turned violent as the husband allegedly struck his wife on the head with a metal showpiece and later beat her with a bat. When the couple's 17-year-old daughter stepped in to protect her mother, she too was assaulted, sustaining injuries to her eye and arm. "My daughter tried to protect me, but he hit her as well," the woman recounted, highlighting the traumatic nature of the attack.
Police Response and Medical Treatment
In response to the assault, the daughter dialed the emergency helpline, prompting police to rush to the scene. However, the accused managed to flee before officers arrived. The injured woman, who complained of dizziness following the head injury, was transported to Civil Hospital via a 108 ambulance and admitted to the trauma ward, where she is currently undergoing medical care.
