Elderly Woman Found Murdered in Ahmedabad Home, Valuables Stolen

In a shocking incident, a 65-year-old woman was discovered dead inside her residence in the Kubernagar area of Ahmedabad early on Wednesday morning. The victim, identified as Bharti Bajarang, was found with her hands and legs bound, and significant valuables including jewellery and cash were reported missing from her home, according to police officials.

Discovery of the Crime Scene

The tragic discovery unfolded when a worker associated with the house alerted the family in the early hours, reporting that Bharti Bajarang was lying unresponsive on the floor despite repeated knocking. Her son, Hitesh Bajarang, along with other family members, rushed to the scene. They found the front door shut from inside and were forced to break it open to gain entry.

Inside, they encountered a harrowing sight: Bharti Bajarang was lying near her bed with her hands and legs tied using cloth. A bloodstained pillow was positioned near her head, and the room light remained illuminated. The house appeared to have been thoroughly ransacked, with the locker wide open and household items scattered in disarray.

Missing Valuables and Police Investigation

The family immediately noticed that the rear kitchen door was open and not secured from either side. Upon checking, they discovered that a gold chain and earrings, collectively weighing approximately 1.5 tolas and valued at around Rs 1.5 lakh, were missing. Additionally, about Rs 1 lakh in cash that had been kept in the house was also gone.

Based on the complaint filed by Hitesh Bajarang, the Sarfarnagar police have registered a case under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). These include Section 103(1) for murder, Section 311 for robbery or dacoity, and Section 331(8)(a) for house-breaking committed after sunset and before sunrise.

Timeline and Suspicions

According to the complainant, the incident likely occurred after 11:30 PM on Tuesday night. This timing aligns with when Bharti Bajarang had visited a nearby neighbour to purchase pan masala. Investigators suspect that unknown individuals entered the house late on Tuesday night, committed the murder, stole the valuables, and then fled the scene.

Bharti Bajarang lived alone near a temple in the Chharanagar locality, which has added to the community's distress. The police are actively pursuing leads and examining evidence to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. The case has highlighted concerns about safety and security for elderly residents living independently in the area.

The investigation is ongoing, with authorities urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in solving this brutal crime.
