Air India Announces Enhanced Flight Operations to West Asia on March 27
In response to escalating travel demand and evolving regional conditions, Air India and its subsidiary Air India Express have unveiled a revised international flight schedule for March 27. The airlines confirmed the operation of 22 scheduled and non-scheduled services connecting India with key destinations across the West Asia region, as detailed in an official press release issued from New Delhi.
Detailed Breakdown of Scheduled Flight Services
The updated schedule outlines a strategic deployment of resources to meet passenger needs. Air India will operate a total of four scheduled flights to and from Jeddah, with two services each originating from Delhi and Mumbai. Additionally, the carrier will fly two scheduled services between Mumbai and Riyadh, reinforcing connectivity to Saudi Arabia.
Air India Express will complement these operations with four flights each to and from Muscat and Riyadh. The Muscat services will include flights from Delhi and Mumbai, while the Riyadh flights will depart from Bengaluru and Kozhikode, ensuring broader access from multiple Indian cities.
Non-Scheduled Flights and Additional Capacity
Beyond scheduled services, both airlines will operate eight non-scheduled flights to and from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), subject to slot availability and conditions at departure airports. These ad-hoc services are designed to provide extra capacity and flexibility for travelers during this period of heightened demand, addressing urgent travel requirements.
The press release included a comprehensive summary of operations for March 27, covering scheduled, non-scheduled, and temporarily suspended flights across West Asia. While scheduled services will continue to destinations like Jeddah, Riyadh, and Muscat, certain UAE airports, including Dubai and Abu Dhabi, will see only non-scheduled flights, reflecting adjusted operational strategies.
Global Flight Operations and Passenger Support
Air India clarified that all other flights connecting India to North America, Europe, Australia, and other global regions will operate as scheduled, minimizing disruptions for international travelers. To support affected passengers, the airline has implemented flexible rebooking and cancellation policies.
"Guests booked on routes where Air India group's scheduled services remain temporarily suspended can conveniently rebook for a future date at no extra charge or opt for a full refund," the update stated. Travelers can manage these changes through the airline's website or its 24x7 customer support helpline.
Similarly, Air India Express customers with bookings from UAE stations are entitled to flexible rebooking options via available commercial flights back to India, ensuring seamless travel adjustments.
Future Plans and Operational Adjustments
The carrier is actively exploring opportunities to operate additional ad-hoc flights in the West Asia region where feasible, demonstrating a commitment to maintaining connectivity and meeting passenger needs amidst dynamic travel conditions. This proactive approach aims to balance operational efficiency with customer satisfaction, as demand patterns continue to evolve.
