Ajmer District Court Targeted by Bomb Threat Email, Prompting Full Evacuation
The administration of the district and sessions court in Ajmer was placed on high alert on Friday after receiving a chilling bomb threat via email. The message explicitly stated that an explosion would occur at 1:10 PM within the new court building, triggering immediate emergency protocols.
Immediate Evacuation and Extensive Security Sweep
In response to the alarming threat, the entire court premises were swiftly vacated. A comprehensive search operation was launched, involving multiple specialized units. The dog squad, anti-bomb squad, Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), and district police personnel meticulously combed the area. Litigants, court staff, and judicial officials were all instructed to leave the building immediately as a precautionary measure.
The new court building, which consists of five floors, was completely emptied. Security teams conducted thorough inspections on each level to ensure no explosive devices were present. Following the extensive search, police officials confirmed that nothing suspicious or hazardous was discovered on the premises.
History of Threats and Ongoing Security Concerns
This incident marks the second time the Ajmer district court building has been targeted with a bomb threat. Furthermore, it is part of a concerning pattern in the region. Authorities noted that five similar threats have previously been made against other significant buildings, including the district collectorate and the revered Ajmer dargah.
The Bar Association of Ajmer, which is currently on strike, has expressed deep concern over the recurring threats. Roopendra Parihar, Secretary of the Bar Association, highlighted that they have been receiving regular threats, yet police investigations have so far failed to identify or trace the anti-social elements responsible.
Official Response and Legal Action
Circle Officer (CO) of Ajmer North, Shivam Sharma, provided details on the official response. He stated that the court administration received the threatening email and promptly informed the district police. Acting in accordance with established security protocols, the decision was made to evacuate and search the building comprehensively.
After the operation concluded with no findings, police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against an unknown person for making the threat. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to trace the origin of the email and identify the perpetrator behind this act of intimidation.
