Ajmer Court Orders FIR Against BJP City Chief for Reposting Obscene Post

An Ajmer court has ordered the police to register a First Information Report (FIR) against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) city president Ramesh Soni for allegedly reposting an obscene social media post targeting Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. This development comes after police had taken action against the Congress functionary who originally posted the content but initially refrained from acting against the BJP functionary who shared it.

Court's Directive and Legal Action

Ajmer's additional chief magistrate No. 2 on Tuesday directed the police to register a case under Section 175(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) on a complaint filed after the police had refused to lodge an FIR. The case was subsequently registered under various sections of the BNS and the Information Technology (IT) Act.

Background of the Case

Advocate Vaibhav Jain, representing the complainant, stated that Congress functionary Piyush Surana had posted the obscene content, and Ramesh Soni reposted it. Jain explained, "On the complaint of the BJP women's wing, police not only registered a case against Piyush, but the BJP women's wing also blackened his face while he was at the Civil Lines police station."

Jain further noted that Surana's brother approached the court seeking an FIR against Soni, arguing that both individuals committed the same offense but only Surana was booked. "The court asked for a report from Ganj police station, and protracted arguments followed. We provided rulings of the Supreme Court, and after that, the court directed police to register a case against Soni and investigate," Jain added.

Separate Case Over Face Blackening

In a related development, a separate case was also registered regarding the incident where Piyush Surana's face was blackened with ink. This case named a local BJP women's wing leader as the accused.
