Ajmer: Forensic DNA Analysis Exposes Murder of Minor Girl Staged as Suicide
In a significant breakthrough, Ajmer district police have declared that the death of a minor girl, whose body was found hanging in a field hut in Roopangarh nearly three months ago, was a case of attempted rape and murder cleverly staged to look like suicide. The investigation, which relied heavily on forensic science, has led to the arrest of the main accused, Nolaram Bagaria, aged 23.
Discovery of the Crime Scene and Initial Suspicious
The girl's body was discovered on November 11 last year in a room constructed within an agricultural field at Mordi ki Sarhad village. Police officials noted that her feet were touching the ground, which immediately raised red flags and cast doubt on the suicide theory. The body was promptly sent for a postmortem examination, and a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) was dispatched to collect biological and physical evidence from the spot.
Meticulous Investigation and Forensic Breakthrough
Additional SP (Rural) Deepak Kumar detailed the exhaustive efforts undertaken by investigators. The probe involved analysing mobile location data, scrutinising nearly 50 CCTV footage clips from the surrounding area, and questioning multiple suspects. Bagaria, the prime suspect, allegedly gave inconsistent statements during interrogation and initially refused to provide a DNA sample. However, forensic examination later confirmed the presence of his skin cells on the victim's body, providing a crucial link.
Arrest and Confession of the Accused
As suspicion mounted, Bagaria fled the area but was subsequently traced and arrested by police. During the investigation, he allegedly befriended the victim's father in an attempt to influence him to lodge complaints against the police with senior authorities. Under interrogation, Bagaria reportedly confessed that he, along with a detained minor, attempted to sexually assault the girl. When she resisted, he allegedly strangled her and then staged the scene to resemble a suicide.
Legal Actions and Charges Filed
Based on the forensic evidence and circumstantial findings, police have invoked charges of murder and rape against Bagaria. The minor allegedly involved in the crime has been detained separately, with legal proceedings underway. This case underscores the critical role of forensic science in solving complex crimes and delivering justice.
