The Hospital Job That Led to Terror Links
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has uncovered crucial details about how Soyab, recently arrested for his alleged involvement in the November 10 Delhi blast, secured employment at Al-Falah University through another arrested doctor.
Soyab had joined Al-Falah University as a compounder and ward boy in May last year, earning a monthly salary of approximately Rs 10,000. The job opportunity came through Dr Muzammil Ahmad Ganaie, who has also been arrested for his suspected role in the explosion that killed 15 people near Red Fort.
Building Trust Through Medical Treatment
According to investigation sources, Soyab first encountered Dr Muzammil when he brought a relative for treatment at the university hospital. After several medical sessions, Dr Muzammil gained Soyab's confidence and offered him the hospital position.
Officials revealed that Dr Muzammil went beyond professional boundaries, frequently prescribing medicines to Soyab's family members over telephone calls and even making personal visits to their residence. The doctor also assured neighbors of simplified access to medical treatment at the hospital facility.
The Path to Terror Association
Through his relationship with Dr Muzammil, Soyab was introduced to Dr Umar Un Nabi, who was inside the i20 vehicle that exploded near Red Fort. Soyab eventually became one of Umar's trusted associates, according to official statements.
Investigators discovered that Soyab played a critical role in helping Umar secure rented accommodation in Hidayat Colony, Nuh. Umar reportedly stayed in this room for nearly ten days preceding the blast incident.
The Escape and Investigation Developments
Dr Umar, who also taught at Al-Falah University, allegedly fled the campus after Dr Muzammil's arrest by Jammu & Kashmir Police on October 30. Sensing their long-planned terror plot was unraveling, Umar urgently needed a hideout, which Soyab arranged through his sister-in-law, Afsana.
The rented room belonged to Afsana's father, who is currently incarcerated in another criminal case. Sources indicate Umar secretly left the house one evening in early November without informing anyone and traveled to Delhi, where he allegedly executed the explosion.
The NIA is currently pursuing multiple investigative leads connected to the broader conspiracy. Coordinated search operations are underway across several states with local police assistance to identify individuals potentially associated with the attack.
Investigators are also examining suspected connections between the Al-Falah University doctors and handlers located in Pakistan and Turkey, expanding the scope of their anti-terror operation.
