Alleged ISI Agent Arrested in Jaisalmer by Rajasthan Intelligence

JAISALMER: The Rajasthan Intelligence unit on Tuesday apprehended an alleged ISI agent, identified as Mushtaq Ali, from Nachna in Jaisalmer district. He is accused of spying for Pakistan's intelligence agency and sharing sensitive strategic information related to India's security.

Arrest Operation

A joint team comprising the Technical Cell of the State Special Branch, Jaipur, and the local Border Intelligence Police carried out the arrest from the Khariya border area near Hingolo Ki Dhani village, which falls under the Nachna police station limits.

Additional Director General of Police (Intelligence) Prafull Kumar stated that the CID Intelligence Rajasthan continuously monitors espionage activities conducted by Pakistani intelligence agencies within the state. During surveillance, intelligence inputs indicated that Mushtaq Ali, son of Nabi Baksh, aged 26, a resident of Hingolo Ki Dhani in Khariya village, was involved in suspicious activities and maintained constant contact with Pakistani intelligence handlers through social media platforms.

Evidence and Modus Operandi

According to officials, during a joint interrogation at the Central Interrogation Centre in Jaipur and an examination of data retrieved from his mobile phone, it was discovered that Mushtaq Ali had allegedly been in touch with Pakistani handlers for nearly two years. Investigators found that he was instructed to open a shop along the main road leading towards the border, using it as a cover to monitor the movements of Border Security Force (BSF) personnel and Indian Army units. He allegedly observed troop movements, recorded videos and photographs, and shared them with his Pakistani handlers.

Inspector General of Police, State Intelligence Branch, Vishnu Kant, stated that the suspect was also allegedly collecting and transmitting other strategically important information in exchange for money, which could potentially compromise national security.

Legal Action and Ongoing Investigation

After evidence reportedly confirmed that Mushtaq Ali had shared strategically sensitive information with Pakistani intelligence operatives for financial gain, Rajasthan Intelligence registered a case against him under the Official Secrets Act, 1923, and formally arrested him on June 16, 2026.

The investigation is ongoing, and intelligence agencies are examining the extent of the information shared and any possible network linked to the accused.
