Alwar Factory Blast Prompts Widespread Industrial Safety Crackdown
In the aftermath of a tragic explosion at an illegal firecracker factory in Khushkheda, located within the Khairthal-Tijara district of Alwar, which claimed eight lives, authorities have launched an extensive investigation and enforcement drive. A joint committee, spearheaded by Khairthal Collector Artika Shukla, is rigorously inspecting industrial units across Bhiwadi and adjacent industrial zones to prevent future disasters.
Comprehensive Inspections Reveal Widespread Violations
Bhiwadi Additional Collector Sumitra Mishra provided details on the committee's findings, stating, "The committee submitted a report after inspections conducted by teams from various departments between February 17 and 23, 2026, which uncovered significant deficiencies." This proactive measure aims to enforce stringent safety, pollution control, and labor standards throughout the district's industrial landscape.
The inspection campaign involved a coordinated effort across multiple regulatory bodies:
- RIICO First inspected 512 units, issuing 106 notices for violations.
- RIICO Second conducted 586 inspections, resulting in 217 notices.
- The Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board examined 563 units and served 47 notices.
- The Factory and Boilers Department reviewed 303 units, issuing 194 notices.
- The Labour Department inspected 85 units, with two notices issued.
- The Fire Department from Nagar Parishad Bhiwadi checked 466 units, leading to 392 notices.
Ongoing Enforcement and Regulatory Actions
In total, 2,515 industrial units were scrutinized by this multi-departmental task force, culminating in notices being served to 1,058 units for failing to meet established department standards. Mishra emphasized that inspections of the remaining units are still in progress, and notices are being issued "as per rules" for any violations detected. This initiative is part of a broader district-wide campaign to bolster industrial safety and environmental compliance, ensuring that such tragic incidents are not repeated.
