Alwar Police Arrest Banker's Wife and Alleged Lover in Murder Conspiracy Case

In a dramatic development, Alwar city police on Thursday arrested Archana Arora, the wife of ICICI Bank regional head Karnav Khatri, and her alleged lover Rishabh Sharma for allegedly conspiring to murder Khatri. The arrests were made by the NEB police station, with both suspects produced in court. Archana has been sent to judicial custody, while Rishabh has been remanded to police custody for one day for further interrogation.

Background of the Case and Marriage Details

According to City Angad Sharma, Karnav Khatri, a 32-year-old resident of Alwar, filed a formal report on March 7, detailing the events. Khatri married Archana, a 30-year-old resident of Govindgarh, in 2018. The couple has two children, and Archana is described as a housewife. The complaint outlines a series of escalating incidents that led to the current charges.

Alleged Illicit Relationship and Abduction

Police investigations reveal that Khatri was posted in Jaipur, and Archana frequently traveled there in a taxi driven by Rishabh Sharma to meet her husband. During these trips, the two allegedly became close and later decided to live together, with police confirming an illicit relationship between them. The situation took a serious turn on September 7, 2025, when Archana left her home with Rishabh, taking approximately Rs 5 lakh worth of jewellery and cash, along with the couple's younger son.

Threats and Attempted Murder Allegations

The complaint further alleges that on February 8, 2026, Rishabh threatened Khatri during a WhatsApp call. From January of this year, Archana reportedly began living with Rishabh again. In a chilling incident in March 2026, Rishabh allegedly took Khatri to Jaipur in a taxi and attempted to kill him on the way. Khatri later filed the case and provided police with an audio recording linked to this attempted murder, which has become crucial evidence.

Complex Web of Allegations and Retractions

Adding to the complexity, police cited a complaint filed on December 22, in which Archana, along with her husband and maternal family, lodged a rape case against Rishabh. This complaint also alleged that Rishabh burnt the hand of her two-year-old child with tongs. However, police noted that Archana later retracted her statements when her testimony was to be recorded under Section 164, raising questions about the veracity of these claims.

Extortion Threats and Ongoing Legal Battles

After Rishabh was sent to jail, police reported that Archana sent a threatening letter to her husband's house. The letter demanded Rs 50 lakh, with threats to kill Khatri and his mother, abandon the children in an orphanage, and referenced a case filed against Khatri in Rajgarh. It stated, "I demanded Rs 30 lakh in court to settle the dispute, but you got Rishabh sent to jail. Now you will have to pay Rs 50 lakh, otherwise we will get you and your mother killed. We will leave the children in an orphanage. A case has also been filed against you in Rajgarh. The day you come to court, you will be finished that very day."

The case continues to unfold as police delve deeper into the motives and evidence, with both suspects now in custody facing serious charges.
