Quadruple Amputee Cornhole Pro Arrested in Maryland Fatal Shooting
A professional cornhole player and quadruple amputee has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Maryland, after authorities reported that an argument inside a moving car escalated into violence, resulting in a passenger being shot and his body discovered hours later in a residential yard.
Shooting Incident and Body Discovery
According to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, on the night of March 22, Dayton Webber, 27, was driving a car in La Plata when he allegedly shot and killed the front-seat passenger, Bradrick Michael Wells, 27, during an argument. The incident occurred around 10:25 p.m., with officers being flagged down by two witnesses near La Plata Road and Radio Station Road.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the witnesses were sitting in the back seat at the time of the shooting. After the fatal altercation, Webber pulled over near Radio Station Road and Llano Drive and requested the passengers to assist in removing the victim from the vehicle. However, the witnesses refused, exited the car, and left the scene. Webber then drove away with Wells' body still inside the car.
Nearly two hours later, a resident in the 10000 block of Newport Church Road in Charlotte Hall called 911 to report a body in a yard. Responding officers found Wells, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed that all occupants of the car were known to each other.
Arrest and Extradition Process
Following the discovery of the body, detectives obtained a warrant for Webber’s arrest on murder allegations. His vehicle was tracked to Charlottesville, Virginia, where he was located at a hospital seeking treatment for a medical issue. Upon his release, Webber was arrested by officers with the Albemarle County Police Department and charged as a fugitive from justice.
Police added that an officer reviewed security footage from a nearby gas station, recognized the suspect, and located him in the area. He was taken into custody without incident and is now awaiting extradition back to Maryland. Webber is expected to face charges including first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and related offenses. The investigation remains ongoing.
League Response and Background Information
Webber is a competitor in the American Cornhole League, which described the case as “an extremely serious matter.” In a statement, the league expressed, “Our thoughts are with all those impacted, including the family and loved ones of Bradrick Michael Wells,” and noted it would not comment further while the case is active.
Webber, who lost all four limbs as an infant due to a severe streptococcus pneumonia blood infection, had built a notable profile in the sport. The league previously described him as “unstoppable.” In a 2023 essay, Webber stated that doctors had given him only a 3% chance of survival after the infection. His YouTube channel, featuring videos titled “No hands no feet shooting,” documents him firing firearms and aspects of his life and sporting career.
Ongoing Investigation and Legal Proceedings
Authorities have requested anyone with further information to contact investigators. Webber remains in custody pending extradition, and no defense statements have been issued yet. Public defenders associated with earlier cases involving Webber did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The case continues as investigators work to piece together the events leading up to the shooting.
